Medication Name: Forxiga 5mg 28 Tablets Active Ingredient:Dapagliflozin 5 mg Pharmacological Class:SGLT2 (Sodium-Glucose Co-Transporter 2) inhibitor Indication:Used for the treatment of: Type 2 diabetes mellitus to improve blood glucose control as monotherapy or in combination with other antidiabetic agents. May be considered in certain cases of heart failure or chronic kidney disease under medical supervision. Dosage:The usual starting dose is 5 mg once daily, taken in the morning.The dose may be increased to 10 mg once daily depending on the patient’s glycemic response and renal function. Administration: Take orally once daily, at the same time each day. Can be taken with or without food. Ensure adequate fluid intake to prevent dehydration. Precautions: Evaluate renal function before initiating and periodically during treatment. Not recommended in patients with severe renal impairment (eGFR <30 mL/min/1.73 m²). Use caution in patients with low blood pressure, dehydration, or a history of recurrent urinary tract or genital infections. Monitor for signs of diabetic ketoacidosis, especially in patients on low-carbohydrate diets or insulin therapy. Possible Side Effects:Genital yeast infections, urinary tract infections, increased urination, thirst, dehydration, dizziness, and in rare cases, diabetic ketoacidosis.
